COVID19 Safe Sharing Policy - April 2021
Due to the ongoing health crisis, Glasgow Tool Library will continue to review and adapt our service in line with the current government advice. It is our priority to keep our membership, volunteers, and staff safe whilst finding ways to support an economy of sharing and mutual learning. Please read through the policy to find out about the updates to service and tick the box on the previous page in agreement.
> We are now open Wednesdays from 5.00 - 7.00 pm & Saturdays from 10.00 - 1.00 pm for click+collection for non-essential items.
> Members can self-renew reservations for another week, extending the maximum reservation length to two weeks.
> We ask that metal tools are not sanitised with water-based disinfectant as this can cause significant rusting. Sanitiser should be +70% alcohol
From 26TH APRIL we hope to open our doors for drop-in tool collection and browsing. This means you won’t have to reserve your tools, but we still advise you consider doing so to avoid disappointment.
From 26TH APRIL onwards we will be following the local tier restrictions for Glasgow. We want to open up opportunities for volunteers and begin running workshops & events again as soon as it feels safe to do so.
We ask that you help us keep transmission rates down by following these rules:
Don’t borrow or return tools if you have been sick, are experiencing ANY symptoms of COVID19, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus in the last 14 days.
Do not come to the tool library if you are quarantining eg. after traveling.
Wear a mask and maintain social distancing whilst interacting with members, staff & volunteers.
Payments, where possible, are made digitally
All tools should be fully cleaned and sanitised with cleaning products containing 70%+ alcohol before return
How does it work?
Search our online catalogue either via our website or by logging into your account on the myTurn website.
Reserve tools ahead of collection. Choose a reservation slot between 5.00 - 7.00 pm on Wednesday and 10.00 - 1.00 pm on Saturday. For Saturday collections the reservation deadline is 5.00 pm on Friday.
Collect your reservation from our big green container located opposite Civic House. Try to arrive within your chosen time slot. If you get to Civic House and another member is collecting items please wait for them to leave the doorway and for staff to prepare your tools for socially distanced collection. Make sure to read any communication sent by our Tool Librarian before collecting as GTL will respond in line with government guidance as it is issued.
Enjoy the tools for one week. If you think you will require them for a bit longer you can now self-renew them online for a second week through your myTurn profile. During this time do let us know if you or any of your close contacts experience Covid-19 symptoms that would mean you are unable to return the tools, we will be happy to waive any late fees until it is safe for you to drop them back. In this case please clean and isolate the tools from members of your household for 72 hrs before returning them to GTL.
Sanitise tools, preferably with 70%+ proof alcohol, and place them in a bag.
Return tools to the container anytime during opening hours, there will be a designated ‘drop-off’ area where you can place them. Please maintain social distance and wear a mask when interacting with other members, staff, and volunteers. If there are any issues with the tools you can let us know ahead of time by email or have a chat with us whilst you drop them off, please be aware that other members may be picking up tools and you may need to wait a moment.
If you have any thoughts about the changes to the GLT service please speak to us in person or alternatively fill out our feedback form.
Please tick the box on the previous page to acknowledge that you have read and agree to this adapted service and the COVID19 Safe Borrowing Policy
